Hello friends, welcome back to another episode of the Let's Talk Lauderdale podcast. I'm Marv. I'm Jen and We are here just chatting about all things South Florida, of course trying to put a focus on Fort Lauderdale and talk about the things that are going on around here both business-wise and socially and hopefully you've been able to catch a couple of our previous episodes and Got to learn a little bit about us learn a little bit about how we got to Fort Lauderdale and last week we actually Played an interview with a local chef owned even keel fish shack Always have to make sure I stop and say it properly Got it But David McLennan is the chef there and did the interview that was turned out pretty good And actually Jen I'm going to ask you last weekend was his oyster thingy there but It was a rainy weekend.
I know I did not go. It was a rainy weekend and I actually had family in town. So I sure hope it went.
Okay. I mean it was a great price. Yes oysters It sounded like a great day.
So I'm sure they I'm sure they had a nice crowd there. Yeah, I actually because for some reason I didn't remember and We assume that there would have to be reservations and stuff. I didn't even think about it.
Then of course it rained and I Ended up working all weekend. So no fun. No fun at all.
I Actually had a wonderful weekend. It was the first weekend in a really long time. I had nothing on the calendar What nothing? Wait a minute.
You had family in town. Nothing on the country on the calendar, you know I was kind of going at whatever they wanted to do when they wanted to do it So we did connect Saturday evening, but it wasn't planned. It was just hey Also, they didn't stay with you.
No, they didn't stay with me. Okay. Yeah.
Yeah No, they're saying they're actually staying up a little bit north of us, but they came down to see us. Okay yeah, that's always the problem on our side because They always stay with us. And so they unfortunately they have a brother with the place up north.
So Yes, yes, yes, but it was beautiful because they did a little um, what do they call it couch routing for it Have you heard of that term? No, you never heard of couch routing? No, we're just sitting on the couch watching TV So I did a little bit of that but it got old and it was a rainy day So watching that's what they did or you did I did. Okay. Yes.
Yes. Yes. Oh, well, I do that Yes, but it was rainy so the you know, it was a perfect environment for it now, but it got a little boring and though Sky cleared up a little bit and I enjoyed what we really are down here for the beach And you know what? I need to get out of my house.
It's not raining right now I have this book that I want to start but I'm distracted by my TV. So I took my chair and drove down to the beach Set up my chair looked at the ocean and read a book for about an hour. Okay, it was beautiful now where you are Where you live, let me first ask how Physically far are you away from the beach? Ten minutes on a good day ten minute drive.
Mm-hmm. Okay, so it's not I mean I keep my chair in the back So are you closer? So Ten minutes. I think we're less than that from here For okay, probably I don't know enough so I This is a little where we are today is a little north of where I used to going so I have my routes and Full disclosure.
I wasn't on Fort Lauderdale Beach. I was on Dania Beach Which parking was very easy because they have the lot by the pier. Yeah It was just an easier.
I'm going to have to go check that out because we are north of Lauderdale Beach So the closest beach technically to us is Lauderdale by the sea which We're not too far from there, but I I'm thinking it's just under ten minutes homework I'll just ask the wife she knows Google Maps do it right now But I'm not here for the beach But okay, have you ever just gone in the evening? This it was a full moon this weekend You could have watched the moon rise as a little cloudy for a moonrise, but I highly suggest that on a clear night No, see here's part of the problem. Okay, once the Sun goes down and I go home from work, right? I'm in Okay windows, you know, the blinds are closed Never too old to change. I go out I go out to feed the cats out back and I don't look up You know once in a while you can make things exciting and change it up So, you know what's interesting when I first moved back.
I shouldn't say back when I first moved to Lauderdale, right in 92 okay. I Got an apartment in Pompano Beach East of US1 very close to the beach just north of Atlantic okay, and I would go down to the beach and back then Not crowded at all you could go down there walk not be bothered It was interesting. Yeah, I would do it then I Wouldn't do it now.
There's some kind of piece that just comes over you when you're there Get out of your comfort zone try it once that's why we're doing the podcast both of us Get out of our comfort zone out of your comfort zone. So all right Now, of course, we talked about even kill fish shack doing their oyster event we're also in dine-out, Lauderdale two straight months of Almost a hundred restaurants doing specials and stuff to get people out But you were talking about another festival coming up It's that the rum fest I isn't that You brought it up I'm is it the wrong fest. I'm trying to think which one I brought up.
Oh, was that last week? What did I send it to you today? Because my memory is going. Oh, I didn't I did not see an email today Yeah folks see how we prepare for this So there's a Miami rum Renaissance festival. Is that what it is? No, the wharf in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday is having the National Rum Day Festival.
Okay, maybe that was it that might be it the wharf in Fort Lauderdale, which is downtown, Lauderdale There's a lot going on this weekend now. That's Saturday Emo night at the Baptist Iceplex Saturday night Baptist Iceplex Baptist Hospital Oh Baptist It's first Baptist Church doing a nice thing Maybe Okay I'm sorry. My memory escapes me.
I can't remember what it was. Okay. Well, we'll move on I don't know.
I'm trying to type but okay National rum day at the wharf is Saturday, August 16th Yeah, see rum day festival so that word was there you go, there we go the wharf is a great place again I'm going to guess you haven't been to the wharf. Yes No, but although Help me with this. I know it's downtown and I know it's in an area of So the riverfront used to be there, right? Right, right.
Okay, it's now the wharf, right? I was there before. Wow. Yeah They have a lot of different themes Themed weekends.
Mm-hmm, and it's a very casual just kind of go and hang out meet a group of friends there Okay, so the location is at the wharf. So it's 20 West Los Olas the event Doors open at 6 p.m. They have doors at the wharf. I thought it was outside it is Fence I'm not sure how they close it So it's a rum lovers paradise with over 100 rum varieties See, I'm not a rum guy.
Maybe that's huge rum person But they have a live reggae band, okay And they have other drinks other than rum. I'm sure yeah So what I found Sunday, mm-hmm, if you have a dog, I don't think you do I do not and mine's not very well behaved. Did you know there's a brewery that allows off leash dogs? Off leash.
Mm-hmm. No bark yard and brews South Florida's first outdoor off leash dog park and bar. Oh, where's that and they're doing a dance potty potty on Sunday Wow, where is that? Back, you know, I didn't write that down where it is.
It's in Fort Lauderdale, though On August 23rd, they're going to have a foam party for your dog in you Wow, of course, I did not do I did not do a good job training my dog and To go to events like these and he's nine. So I think I lost my Opportunity, I wish I still had my connections at the Humane Society because they would know It where this is. Yeah, I'm sure they would be involved in it.
Go ahead. You look at 17 Northwest First Street Northwest First Street in Lauderdale. Yeah That's down by the Habitat Restore, I see that on there.
Wait a minute Northwest first Mm-hmm, 817 817 so that's before the tracks in the downtown. Yeah Somewhere in your Broward it looks like well I was going to say it would be Broward and it would be in between what is it the Boys and Girls Club and the storage facility close. Yeah, it's on the other side of the Broward from the Museum of Discovery and Science.
Okay, you're a dog lover and your dog’s better behave than mine Sounds like fun it does And here I was all excited to learn that Snyder Park Had a doggie look good Which I had never you didn't know that. No, I didn't know that that popped up in my in my Lauderdale feed. Yeah Again, my dog's not You know well behaved to do it.
I don't even know if my dog could swim But it looks like a great way to I actually I've met some friends at the dog park That have taken their dogs there and they just wear their dogs out. Yeah Yeah, I was concerned when they built the fort That that was going to disappear, but it's still around. So I was happy to see that I'm going to say you can't make a lagoon disappear Right, but there was a beautiful like shaded area with little benches and pavilions And trees around that lagoon, so I wasn't sure how it would affect.
Hmm So just for people to know you can't just show up with your dog You have to be able to prove that your dog has current vaccination and license. Is this for Snyder or for Snyder? Yeah Puppies under four months old are not permitted and owners must stay with and be responsible for their pets And aggressive dogs may be removed at the city's discretion Similar to dog park rules. Yeah So that's the actual park and then they have the dog swim at the lagoon It's open from 7 a.m. To 7 p.m. Although it is closed the first Tuesday and Wednesday of the month for water treatment.
Oh, well, that's good to know And it's free with park entrance. I was going to say don't you have to pay for parking to get in? They have a dog park there, too. Yeah.
Yep. I think that was um, there's a Leadership Broward organization and I think one of their classes created that very interesting So dog friendly places in Lauderdale, I'm a cat guy myself There are plenty cat place. Well cats don't like to go out.
There are plenty places to adopt cats here Yeah, well, we're done with the inside cats. And as soon as the outdoor cats are done, I'm done That's not your decision Cats choose you So you can say that that's have been choosing us for 20 years. I'll have to tell you off-screen how that started Oh, man, that's and as soon as one leaves another one shows up exactly.
It's not really within your control opening there It's not within your control. Hmm So another thing I saw we I had brought this to talk about a couple of weeks ago But we had some other stuff we were talking about, you know Top cities and how Florida had so many top cities. There was an article that I read about 14 u.s Cities that travelers are simply tired of going to and says are not worth visiting anymore Please tell me Fort Lauderdale is not Lauderdale is not on the list.
Neither is Tamarack Or a DA Deerfield Beach But I did find it odd that Miami was on the list Okay, as well as Jacksonville, I know a lot of people are moving to Jacksonville, but this is tourist really this is going to be tourist related in the fact that yes One of my clients actually moved up there was going to build a house But ended up just loving the place that he was at temporarily and is up there. I had a client with an office up there But yeah, a lot of people were going up there to retire right or just to live when they get older but It's not really a place you go to visit I have to say I'm not really sure what's up there to visit. I mean so the Jaguars okay, although I I'm not a Jaguar fan.
I'm not either So, I guess that's one reason I don't really know what else I don't either I but I haven't done my research to see what's Up there. Yeah Okay, and Miami well, what are the reasons why no Jacksonville so the reasons pretty much were that There's no Attractions. There you go Bingo a Deserted downtown.
So I'm assuming that once the workday is over They don't have you know, at least with Laura Dale, right, you know Downtown there's Los Olas their second Street You still have places somewhere life to go to and then they've added places up and down the US1 corridor. I'm assuming they haven't done that in Jacksonville. Maybe their time is coming Maybe or maybe the Jacksonville residents are happy with it that way maybe Horace do you bring money? Yes, they do.
So that was it and then now Miami is The opposite except that and it's higher on the list. So there's actually a couple of lists So it's either it's either three or four on the list. Okay, and of course the reasons are overcrowding Expensive dining.
Yes Limited parking. Yes, and the beaches are also packed in nightlife can be overwhelming. I Have not been to nightlife in Miami.
How long have I been was I married? Hmm 30 years So, it's funny I so it's been a while since I've been down there also but I remember going and my buddy was taking me around to clubs and First of all, you had to know somebody to just get in. Yeah, if they had the line out the door Luckily, I knew him and he knew people so we got in. Yeah, they were packed Yeah, they were packed now I'm not somebody that goes to the club to dance and all of that stuff, but If you weren't doing that you were just sitting along the sides of the bar Yeah, and you're getting bumped into constantly.
Why am I here? You're like five people back trying to get a drink at the bar I was like this isn't fun. Yeah, I and maybe it's already just not my thing Yeah, this was a while ago this is when I thought it was still my thing Yeah, so that was a that was a problem And so I have been down there a couple of times for visits for business. Okay on Brickell Street.
Mm-hmm and That's packed. That's crowded. Yeah, right, especially during the day for lunch because all the business is there and then I've been there at night and It's still crowded.
So it right it never ends. I mean When you're on I-95 I feel like the minute you cross The border from Broward to date all of a sudden you hit traffic. Yeah, no matter what day or time it is yeah, and I remember the conference that I went to we were there on a Tuesday night and Luckily, we made a reservation for a restaurant on Brickell.
Okay, or else we wouldn't have gotten in there So that's where I'm like on a Tuesday night. I should be able to get a night You should be able to go anywhere just about interesting. I'll be down there Saturday night.
Oh So no, yes, of course So I think they open they're open till like 6 a.m. So I'll be out. No Cirque de Soleil Okay, they're actually playing here in the Emirates Center and Broward, but they're also playing it How do you say it because I a center I should know that I Don't know where the heat play Oh Kaseya to say it's a center. I could tell I don't watch the basketball games to say is an IT vendors Okay, so have you ever heard of lucky tickets? No, lucky tickets.
This might help get you out of your comfort zone Is that like a little lottery game you said it is so you sign up for a lucky tickets In fact one of somebody we mutually know I used to do this with her You sign up for lucky tickets and then when certain shows they have tickets available they'll say hey we have a drawing for Cirque de Soleil tickets Register and pick what shows you want to go to? So you register and then you'll get a text and you'll say oh you want tickets to go to the Saturday? They said Saturday night show to cirque du soleil. I bought the tickets and they're discounted prices. So I paid half price.
They're selling for now. I Thought I bought the tickets for Broward Because and I got so excited and the rush and then when I bought the tickets or when I got the tickets in my phone I said, oh, I'm going to Miami Saturday night So lucky tickets lucky tickets calm I'm telling you will not regret it They don't promise you know that you're going to have the best seats in the house But every time I've ever received tickets from them, they were good seats. Like I'm going to be in the 100 levels And I paid half price for the tickets Okay, we're going to have to do a double check here because lucky tickets calm doesn't come up Okay, there's lucky seat lucky seat.
Thank you. Okay. Yeah Definitely you recommend it is when amazing deals for events near you Interesting.
Yep. Yep. I Saw Beetlejuice that way and there it is, sir.
Do so late So I've been only $59 in Sunrise No, if you go to Ticketmaster now to try to buy the tickets that I have there 130 Well, I'm on lucky seat. Okay, $59, right, right, right, right. That's what I paid Okay, there you go.
Great shows You just have like they'll notify you let's say at 11 a.m. And then you have until 1 p.m. Or 4 p.m. That's a so how does this work? So they announce it and then a Thousand people try to get the tickets and they just spend the wheel I do like some sort of random drawing digital drawing and they'll text you and Then if you don't buy them in a certain time, they'll do the drawing again people So first of all, you got to know that you really want to go Right be available. Wait, but then be okay if you don't get the tickets absolutely and there are times that I've signed up and Then I get the text that I won the drawing and yeah, I already made plans for this night I don't want to do it. So there's a matter right? You don't have to buy the tickets if you win Now we'll have a link to the to the site folks lucky seat calm And of course, it's basically exactly what we've just described.
It is a lottery You cannot move the tickets to another performance you get what you did And if you cannot attend you cannot get a refund you can't get a refund and they usually only let you purchase two tickets I forgot there was one show where they Let you like reserve for or try for four So I went enter the drawing for four tickets And then I ended up when I wanted to buy them only needing two and they wouldn't let me only buy two I had to buy the four. Mm-hmm. So but overall worth it.
Did you have four people to go with you? No, I ended up going just saying Alright, so yeah, you can do events, Fort Lauderdale and theater sports concerts and more Very interesting. So right now all that shows up is the circus. Yeah.
Have you been to a Cirque show? I've never been I Not a full show, okay, but I've been to not a full show. Yeah, it's I think there was like a Side show of a circus. Okay as part of an event that I was like left half way I've seen all the tumbling now.
I'm good. No, it was a side thing. Okay, it wasn't though the show right? Right, right I'm excited So I'll venture into Miami and find out why tourists you're going you're going south of the glades.
I am Boy I had a client that was right at the glades okay, and After I had made the proclamation that I'm not going south of the glades for a client ever again They literally were at the glades And they kept you in mind when they And it was funny because we actually just Moved that office and it was probably a month ago. I went down there. They're doing all that construction So I couldn't go the normal way I actually had to get off ahead of the Glades exit.
I think it was hives dairy or Miami Gardens to go the back way and stuff and wow I didn't try driving a U-Haul truck through all of that. That's not fun No, I guess I haven't been south of the glades for a while because I didn't know there was traffic and construction or traffic I mean, yeah, the east-west part is under construction. Good to know.
Okay Yeah, if you just go the flyover, you know, you're fine, okay, I assume Make sense So, all right some interesting things. We just learned on the fly didn't plan for did not So lucky seat calm Good stuff. Yeah and everybody I have recommended I recommended it to they're happy yeah Good stuff All right, well what else can we do today I don't know what's in here scrolling Looking up new stuff.
I you know what? I did also learn We have Do you know about the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center? Swimming hall a swimming hall event. Yeah, it's near coconuts. It is near coconuts.
It's good for you can't miss the dive tower, no, we cannot we have two world-class Diver winner swimmers here in Fort Lauderdale. They won at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore It's pretty amazing it is they trained and live here in Fort Lauderdale, how did we not know that I don't know James Lichtenstein He practices year-round at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center and he was crowned the world champion in the men's high diving event and Then Maya Kelly who secured bronze in the women's 20 meter high dive competition Would you dive off that board? No me neither No, I'm uh, I stopped diving off the regular dive board at a hotel pool Yeah, it's a little dangerous So I did not realize and that just finished and August 3rd was That here in Singapore in Singapore. I thought that was pretty exciting We're pretty lucky to have that Aquatic Center There's a lot that happens there that we just don't even think about or know see there's a lot that happens here We don't keep up with yeah So and by the way folks we mentioned You know that we had the interview last week And we do have a couple of people that we are talking to get interviews lined up however If you are somebody that you know, either would like to be on the show or know somebody that is You know active in South Florida Hopefully in Fort Lauderdale, that would be a great person to have on the show They might maybe run a restaurant or be part of an organization down here Maybe a business that is you know rooted headquartered here in Fort Lauderdale one of the people that I'm trying to get has been a longtime business resident here and Another one is a friend of mine.
I played basketball with But is active in the financial world here So we've got people that we're trying to get lined up and get some more flavor where we both talked about running today Maybe we can get a gym here to help us. Okay to run. That wasn't meant to go out over the public air.
I Haven't run in 10 years There's always a day to start Tomorrow is always a good day Tomorrow yes. Yeah, if you're if you're a runner Do we really want to talk about that I Don't care Your car so what Jen is referring to is that she is an active runner And go ahead running is runner is a loose term for me But you will be running in the upcoming Disney event the Disney run challenge run Disney 10k in January in January And I made the mistake of asking If she is actively training for that in thinking that maybe I'll you know Train and get myself back in shape never open that door for me. No now Never ever so if you are planning to do that event, let us know Yeah, I can use a little cheering squad up there System Now, okay, so like the big marathons I'll ask you if this are there people like first of all, is it along the streets of Disney? It is it the beginning if it's the same courses last year this past January you start in the parking lot of Epcot and you run through the roads in Disney, but you do end up going through kind of the back Area the background area of Epcot, but then you do run through Epcot I think you take a little detour into the boardwalk hotel as well.
Now. Are there people lined up along the side? watching and cheering They have all their Disney cast members out cheering you on and then even when you're at the hotel when you run through the boardwalk Hotel a lot of the hotel guests are out there cheering you on Okay, and then you know your friends and family can be out there cheering you on not in the park But along the course outside the park Okay, so it's a I mean the energy of it all is just amazing and then they have Characters throughout the way that you can stop and take pictures with they have bands. They have music like It's a high.
It's definitely an it's higher than a runner's high. I Was going to say I would not know that but I did run in my youth. So I Do have a reference point to that now So run Disney for those that may not know in 2025 it is happening Where is it January 7th through the 11th? January 7th is the 5k, right? Yeah, January 8th is the 10k and then half is on that Saturday and full is on that Sunday Yeah, not quite ready for the full or the half So I'm looking at this event that they're having on October Oh The wine and dine half marathon weekend I would like to do that one and I think I can encourage my daughter to do that one with me I'm going to work on it Okay.
Yes, we'll have to We'll do some more research right now. I'm just clicking and looking so if you want to do a local run I kind of mentioned to you earlier We are heading into run season here Now that the weather as I laugh As it cools off September still not cool, but I think it's kicking off run season So Gilda's Club is doing their 5k on September 13th. I think it's at the Nova campus So that will be my practice run to get ready for the 10k So join us Support us support a good cause and get your run in.
Here we go. Get a t-shirt. I Just did a quick search for upcoming races In Fort Lauderdale, and there's a lot actually, right, right So on August 6 23rd, there's a back-to-school 5k 10k in Fort Lauderdale.
Okay Where's that one? It just says Broward it says Fort Lauderdale The details I have to click through all this Crappy ads and stuff one that I think you can run the tarmac at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport But I don't remember who it is. That does it the tarmac really? Mm-hmm So it is let's see this is an out-and-back run along a 1a And it doesn't say the start and finish location But each participant will receive a club t-shirt finisher medal and signature bib Okay, it doesn't say it just says along a 1a So there are plenty of running clubs here in Fort Lauderdale as well I'm trying to find the one that I thought about joining they leave from do you know where pressing grind is on? 17th Street It's a great little coffee shop There's another one. I used to go to the one on 17th Street I can't remember where the other one is, but it's not far from there.
So I saw it advertised there it's a group of people that meet say six o'clock in the evening and they run together and then they gather for Drinks or coffee or whatever it is. They want so I got all excited because this is when I was starting to get into running Again, I'm like, oh I can get a group of people community. Then I went to their Instagram page They're like 20 years old younger They're the kids.
Yeah, I don't think they don't want the old lady running with But There are several other running clubs out there in the community that You know if you need if you need a partner or somebody to help keep you going they're there So take advantage of them all over so we can link those two if you want. Yeah We'll grab a couple of these put links in the show nuts. There's a lot here.
There's a There's a turkey trot in November. Yeah, sir. Jingle bell jog in December There's a resolution 5k 10k on January 1st So that's a lot of running.
That's it. So my fam, we're just going off script all together. Is that okay? Yeah, we're fine So my family and friends Probably 15 years ago.
We did the disorganized organized 5k every January 1st That was an official that was the official that was our official name Okay, and it was we would have a New Year's Eve party at night And this is when the kids were little and for some reason they all spent the night at my house So I had the job of getting everybody up and out the house in the morning Which I'm not sure how I drew that short straw, but it's your house So we would meet on at the Hollywood Broadwalk Broadwalk remember from I remember I remember and We would you can run it you can walk it you can crawl it you can bike it you could skateboard it You could scooter it you would do your 5k on the beach and then we'd all meet back We'd start at Charno Park, which is off Garfield Street where the paddle ball courts are and then we'd have a big breakfast And it was like such a great way to start the new year, right? Now who was in charge of keeping track of everybody? No, it was disorganized organized So we and you never lost anybody made we never lost anybody we had one kid fall off his new Christmas present scooter one day, but he was okay. He was all good We made our own t-shirts. We made our own bibs and we were just kind of like probably look like the weirdo people on the beach And what did what did you know the local? You know onlookers say as you guys did your thing cheer us on or just kind of look at us like But it was fine, I mean the kids are little and we had a good time as the kids got older It was harder to wake them up Of course, of course, but we can get them in with breakfast because we'd all have breakfast after breakfast on the beach is nice So was there particular the one you mentioned the restaurant? What was it again? Well, or did you do different ones? We know well, so I knew you're on New Year's Day We always went to one that I don't think I mentioned to you before We go to the Broadwalk grill the Broadwalk grill broadwalk grill, which is still there Yeah, they've actually expanded their next to send your frogs Seen you I know that one.
There's a send your frogs on the beach but yeah, everyone and I'm you know, I always felt bad because Here are the servers working the morning of New Year's Day and we were this giant table that would come in and Obnoxious, we try not to be obnoxious. But when you have a group of people, there's always a few Oh, yeah, so I you know, we were good. We were good.
We just knew we weren't you know, we weren't going to get Speedy service because we were a big group. Yeah All right, the Broadwalk restaurant and grill. It's great place On nerf North Surf Road in Hollywood, Florida And Well, this is interesting.
It's only open in the mornings. That's not how it used to be I'm looking at the schedule now. Wow, they have great dinner Every day here says 7 a.m. To 10 a.m. Except for Friday.
It is open till 11 a.m. Saturday open till 12 I'm actually a little sad to hear that because they had great pizza. They had a great snapper dinner It says 12 a.m. So that makes it sound like it's open all day on Saturday. Okay, but the during the week Maybe those are typos.
I hope so because I'm telling you their dinner is amazing Great Italian. Yeah, they have to be typos. Here we go.
So Monday through Friday. Here's the website hours 730 a.m. To 11 p.m. Saturday 7 a.m. To 12 a.m. And then Sunday 7 a.m. To 10 p.m. Okay. So well that makes me feel better I was a little worried about that Well, don't trust Google all the time.
No But you mean if it's online, it's doesn't it's on the Internet. It must be true Okay, I'm just all over yeah one more thing, okay, go for Lauderdale Beach. Yeah best bakery Archibald's There's a bakery on the beach.
Oh my gosh, Marvin get on the beach. I've been to the beach I've been to I've been to the W. I've been to So here's the problem. I've been to restaurants on the I just don't remember what the names are.
Okay? Okay, one called ocean 21 Maybe we'll have to look them out Archibald's is on what's the road just west of a 1a west of a 1a Yeah, there's a whole lot of roads west of okay. It's the one just west of it. I'm trying to look up their address So the one that goes behind the beach breakers each place breakers out.
Okay break. Yeah Yes, so they are at 608 breakers Avenue Open daily 7 a.m. To 3 p.m. Breakfast begins at 8. Don't miss it. Yummy pastry I've had Sandwiches there.
I've had blueberry lemon coffee cake their croissants Highly recommend and it's a cute little place outdoor tables Super nice service behind the counter Check it out And there's actually a great yoga studio above it on the second floor You know, the sad part is I know that Street However, I never stopped at anything on that Street. That was like it's so cute That was the street if you didn't want to be stuck in a 1a trap. Yes That Street Especially when So, here we go.
So when I moved down here and we were going down to Beach Place, okay And there was a ball. What was the bar there? There was a there was a dance club on the beach Baja was inland right, but there was a I'll never remember it. It's it hasn't been there in years, but somebody will remember there was it was a dance club on the beach but Everybody would try to go in on a 1a to find parking it was before the parking garage Was there at Beach Play? So the bar in Beach Place.
Yes. Okay. Well, no, it wasn't in Beach Place It was like down a little bit.
I think I went one of the stops on my bachelorette party. I went there. Yeah This was mid-90s, yeah mid-90s, so it was I guess south of Can't remember I'm trying to but it was that there was a parking lot right at the corner of Los Olas there It was right there We'd always park in the parking lot.
That was like the big open parking lot. Nobody wanted to park there, but we would yep. Yep so That's going to kill me.
I need to know that name. So that's the street. So that's the only reason I know that street so I'm giving you more homework Go venture down that street Some great things There's um, it's really not super far from you know what we did find one time So there was a time I remember driving around there was like a food truck garden Years ago there.
I'll have to remember. I remember we were driving around and we came across it and it was Again if you didn't know it was there you would not know it was there It was like you had to literally drive by it to see it see it. There's no parking So the hotel guests and the residents were the target right? Yes, and it was a cool little it was It wasn't like the it didn't look like a food truck.
It looked like they had You know put up a structure around the food truck, right? So it was But it wasn't always there so I'm Not quite understanding it, but I believe you this is where this is where if we get listeners Been around a while they can write and tell us. Yeah, I remember and when you remember the name of that club Let us know There's no way I'm going to remember that name There was a second story, but yes, it was an open second floor Like and I keep wanting to say something like boomers or it was a two-syllable word Yes, but I thought it started with a C. No, it may have been I don't know not Krakow's That wasn't Krakow's that was a place where other places. Yeah.
Yeah But yeah, like a boomers or something like that was the name of that club Yeah, and there was a band that would play there that also played at a bar called pickles in Pompano pickles. I have sadly never went to pickles Because this pickles is the place that you probably didn't want to go to That was more like the after When all the other bars have closed you ended up at pickles kind of like a Casey's Nickelodeon in Hallandale Okay, don't know that That was the South End pickles. How about that? Okay, that works.
Ours was shenanigans again Okay, I am spot Wow good times good times and with that we should probably end of this show before we Ramble more this was not our intent folks.
